In collaboration with Fairbanks, the Reiki Center of Indiana completed a Reiki Study with 50 patients participating in the recovery program in August, 2011. The study utilized the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale to measure negative mood and physical dimensions both before and immediately following a 30-minute Reiki treatment. On the scale, negative mood and physical discomfort are measured from 0 to 4 with 0 being low negative mood or physical discomfort and 4 being high negative mood or physical discomfort. The chart and graph demonstrate significant decreases in anxiety, tension, fears, depression, and somatic symptoms for patients following the 30-minute Reiki treatment.

Fairbanks Hospital
Reiki Pilot Program
In 2007 Reiki Center of Indiana provided a Reiki Pilot Program for Fairbanks Hospital/Addiction Treatment Center. Reiki treatments were approximately 45-60 minutes for adult in-patients and those in recovery. We provided 64 sessions from 9/17/07 – 10/12/07. A Likert scale was used pre- and post-sessions to determine levels of discomfort. See below for the percent of patients/clients that improved after receiving a Reiki treatment.

Methodist Hospital
Clinical Study
Expectant mothers hospitalized for pregnancy complications received one 45-60 minute Reiki treatment from Reiki practitioners in association with the Reiki Center of Indiana in 2009. Patients were surveyed pre and post treatment using a valid and reliable test for anxiety level (STAI). The Reiki treatment was shown to significantly reduce anxiety levels in these women.
Results listed in the table below are the responses from a questionnaire each patient completed following the Reiki treatment.
